I am sitting in bed writing this and it feels great! Maybe this doesn’t sound like a big deal but it sure is to me. I’ve been thinking a lot about how and where I work lately and I just realized that I need to shake up my habits a bit. I live in a really small house (60 m2) with my husband and our two children and although I love this place there is not much space for me to work. So I spend most of my time working in a corner in our living room/dining room/play room. You get the picture…
As most of my work involves writing of some kind (articles, blog posts, newsletters, intuitive readings, products etc) I end up spending way too much time in the same place. At first I didn’t care about that and I frankly didn’t think it mattered. But slowly I am starting to feel uninspired, stuck and not-so-free. Now this is a Big Deal because it’s so important to me to feel free. It’s defintely on the top 3 list of my core values.
So I knew something had to change but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I would love to have my own office space but I will need to make some more money before that can happen and I really like working from home. Having small kids is awesome but can be a handfull (at least!) and being able to work from home is a blessing when they are sick or not in school.
Today it is Sunday, it’s raining all day, the kids are sick and my husband is working. I’ve got a guest post and this post to write and I can’t get out of the house more than for a couple of minutes to breathe some fresh air and be alone. So this is the first day I give myself permission to write in bed. Woo hoo! Somehow I thought I’d feel lazy if I worked in bed but actually it feels great!
What can you change today in order to feel more inspired and free in your life/work?
Sorry about this rambling post but I am feeling really slow at the moment. I strongly feel that at this time of year we are being asked to slow down and rest. This is the darkest time of the year and yet we are supposed to run around and do so much before and during the holidays. Today I choose to honor my inner rhythm and take the time to listen to my own voice.
How about you? How do you choose to honor yourself today?
Sending you lots of love and good vibes,
PS: If you would love to invite more creativity and play into your life, make sure you sign up for Leonie Dawson’s Creative Goddess e-course that starts on December 1st. It’s one of my favourite e-courses and I had so much FUN doing it. It goes much deeper than I ever imagined.
Hey sweetie!
I usually write on my bed. My house is also small, and I’ve created the bedroom to be a private, serene sanctuary ~ it’s very comfortable and quiet, filled with light and a history of centered moments, in there. That makes it a great place to journal, meditate and write.
I’d like to have an office of my own, one day, but I think when I get there, I’ll be able to look back fondly on the days when the bedroom was my office as well as sanctuary!
Hi beautiful Christine!
I love how you describe your bedroom as a sanctuary. It really inspired me so yesterday I redecorated my bedroom and will add some incense and candles and it will be a prefect work space. Thank you for putting everything in perspective : ). Love, Karina
Hello Karina
I love this idea of changing our practises and habbits. I am certainly going to try and write my next blog post from bed! Maybe one day when you get an office you will want to put a bed in there?!
Love

I do think it’s very important not to get stuck in old habits, especially if they aren’t helping us to be creative and feel good. I love the idea of having a bed in my future office ; ). Love, Karina
I’ve been in this situation so many times. I sit in front of my computer on my desk most hours of the day and it can get really taxing. Just the other day I took my notebook to a cafe and did my work there. Even those few hours in a different spot and with only paper freed my brain. Gotta change it up every now and then!
I would love to work in a cafe but around here there aren’t that many really cosy ones. French cafés are pretty loud and people kind of drink their tiny coffees standing up so it’s not very cozy. I have had my eye on one really nice café though and I will go there very soon. Thank you for coming by my blog : ). Love, Karina
I LOVE that you changed things up and wrote this post from your bedroom! When my husband and I first got married, we also lived in a tiny house, and we started our gift business out of it. We had to get creative to figure out how to make room for everything, but it always worked somehow. Where there’s a will, there’s a way – and you so lovingly showed that just now! Big hug to you!
I guess we just have to make the best we can with what we have and then things grow from there. Thank you for your kinds words. Big hugs, Karina
Hi Karina! Oh, I really identify with a lack of workspace and for me, this can lead directly to feeling flat and uninspired. I think that taking time out is the wisest thing you can do. I hope your spark returns soon!
It is a challenge to find a space that works for us and I just felt so great lying in my bed and writing. Like I was a kid doing something I wasn’t allowed to do : ). I am taking the time to really rest and take it easy and when that phase is over I will have more energy again. Big hugs, Karina
I often write in bed! It’s especially comforting to do that when the days are grey and cold. Christmas is actually the middle of summer here but I am also hoping to slow down in the new year and take time to listen to my inner voice. Thanks for the reminder Karina!
I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one, Leann! Summer sounds lovely right now : ). It is always good to listen to our own inner rhythm and trust that it’s ok to slow down when we need to. Big hugs, Karina
Oh tell me about it. Nature knows to rest and rejuvenate and recuperate in the dark and cold time. we humans? Crackers – I wrote exactly that in my newsletter today! lol. I’ve been doing the Goddess haven course, and I am really feeling the difference now my working space is cleansed, clearer of clutter…and I know when its a sacred space too it will make a difference. Environment is so important – especially if we’re sensitive to it. xx
I know! I wish we could all just be like plants ; ). The Goddess haven e-course sounds lovely. I will do it very soon. Sacred space is so important! Thank you for sharing, Donna. Love, Karina
